M.Roberts & Son Transport are celebrating a decade in business with the arrival of an ultra-high spec DAF XF 530 from Motus Commercials Wrexham.
Based in Anglesey, North Wales, the temperature controlled distribution specialists have a busy long-distance fleet and favour DAF trucks for their everyday reliability.
Matthew Roberts, Business Owner at M.Roberts & Son Transport, explains, “We’ve been in business since 2010 and we’ve always had DAF trucks. We find them extremely reliable, with the manual 2010 DAF XF 105 that I personally drive having done over 1 million KM whilst still being on its original clutch, for example.”
Matthew continues, “The back-up and service we receive from Holyhead Truck Services, part of Motus Commercials, is great and they look after us really well. They’re also just 10 minutes down the road from us too which was a deciding factor when opting to buy another DAF.”

There has been no expense spared with the new DAF, which not only packs an impressive 530 horsepower but also features DAF-fitted LED lights, microwave, leather interior, and Dura-Bright wheels. All other fabrication was done by FTM in Nescliffe, the top bar, TV and LED headboard by M Heler, and it has been finished off with a striking paint job by Howard at Canacraft.
Matthew explains, “We opted for a more powerful XF 530 this time around as we do refrigerated work and carry a lot of cheese, which is a heavy load.
“The internal extras from DAF were chosen with the driver in mind. They’re away in the cab all week so I think it’s important to make it as comfortable as possible for them, a home-from-home.
“The external lights and other features were chosen for shows. Our drivers really look after their trucks and like to show them off, so we wanted to make something special for this purpose too.”
And this truck certainly is special! So much so, that it recently won ‘Best New Truck’ at TruckFest North West; an achievement that everybody involved is more than pleased with.

Matthew concludes, “Our new truck is fantastic and in a completely different ballgame to our older DAF model. The comfort, performance and handling are great and there’s also a lot of attention to detail which makes it really stand out. We’re all very impressed with the final product, especially the driver.
