Motus Commercials DAF apprentice Luke Thoel, based at our Sutton-in-Ashfield dealership, received special recognition as Highly Commended in The Lloyds Banking Group Award for Rising Star of the Year at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2019 Regional Final.
The National Apprenticeship Awards showcases the diverse range of sectors engaged with apprenticeships and their success stories. The Rising Star Category identifies apprentices who have so far made great progress in their career and have the potential to go even further.
Luke was nominated by Sarah Bardens, Group Apprentice Coordinator at Motus Commercials, who believed that Luke was the perfect candidate for this award and deserved to receive recognition for his efforts. Sarah explains, “Luke is a great example of a motivated and career focused apprentice. He has always been clear on his aspirations to be a future Service Manager and is working hard to reach his goal. Following graduation from his level 3 qualification in November, he will progress straight into his level 4 Automotive Management course. He always volunteers his time to help promote our apprenticeships as an Apprentice Ambassador and is a great representative of the business too."
At the awards this year, there were over 1200 applicants across all 8 categories. Luke was shortlisted into the final 16 in the East Midlands and, as announced at the regional awards ceremony last week, achieved second place in his group as ‘Highly Commended’.
Luke Thoel comments, “I was very pleased to receive the Highly Commended award at the East Midlands Regional National Apprenticeship Awards. Coming close second in the region out of so many applicants was a fantastic feeling and I believe it’s a good reflection on my work place, the team behind me and the support I have received from all at Motus Commercials.”
Well done Luke!
