Motus Commercials and its 29 UK dealerships are open for business, providing maintenance, repairs and parts for trucks and vans operating in key transport services.
Many changes have been made within the business to deal with challenges brought by the coronavirus but we’re still very much doing all we can to support the national effort, with Motus Commercials employees going above and beyond for our customers and wider communities. Here’s a round-up of the fantastic work we’ve seen over the past few weeks.
As stocks of PPE across the country dwindle, Motus Commercials has been going above and beyond to make donations to help those on the frontline. Motus Commercials Bristol answered the call for help from ITV and the Avon Fire and Rescue Service by donating 6 boxes of latex gloves and our Derby region also delivered safety glasses to the Royal Derby Hospital for use by healthcare workers. In Scotland, both the NHS and local care homes have gratefully received deliveries of much needed PPE too.
We’ve also introduced a Coronavirus Community Van Scheme, which is proving popular among our Furloughed employees. With 20 vans available across the business for use in community projects, it’s fantastic to see the level of enthusiasm shown for helping others.
Sue Hazell, from Motus Commercials Bristol has been delivering basic food supplies to elderly people within her community, as has Dave Harding at Motus Commercials Halesowen and Luke Thoel at our Sutton-in-Ashfield dealership, along with prescriptions too. Tommy Richardson from Best Van Deals Used in Glasgow has been collecting supplies for local foodbank, Food for Thought, and also unused school lunches for redistribution within the local community.
Our workshops are seeing many NHS and food delivery vehicles in their bays, which we’re prioritising to get back in service as soon as possible. At the same time, our DAFaid Technicians are out on the road responding to calls from DAF drivers in need.
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, DAFaid is on hand to help any DAF truck that breaks down in the vicinity of the dealership where they are based. Recently, our DAFaid Technician from Motus Commercials Frome, Richard Toop, was able to repair an NHS truck with a red trailer brake warning malfunction at the roadside, allowing it to finish off its deliveries. Grieg Evans, from Motus Commercials Cumbernauld, also successfully recovered a broken-down DAF CF tractor unit back to Tesco’s RDC for a speedy repair.
With so much greatness going on across the Motus Commercials business it’s plain to see that each one of our 1500-strong workforce are Motus Heroes.
